St.Nicholas Day 2011

The German tradition of observing St.Nicholas Day (Dec 6) rolled around again. I was so excited to fill Cassie's boots with goodies. Luckily I had stocked up on little trinkets and had them on the "gift shelf" in my closet for quite some time. Here's a little peak of how it went:

As a result of reading this book I have elevated my style of parenting and teaching.

For example, I learned that everday needs that we supply as parents are still gifts and should and can be given as so. Children learn to be more appreciative. Knowing that one of my daughter's main love languages is recieving gifts I tried his theory out.

I presented one pair of her new Winter pajamas as a lavish gift. I bagged it with tissue paper. And well to say she was delighted is an understatement! She was so very appreciative!

And did I mention adorable in them???

Until the next time...

We're Ready

Who cares if it's only November! Our Christmas Tree is up!!! We have been enjoying candy canes and the glow of our tree. I have even made my list and checked it twice. Cassie has been a tiny bit naughty but mostly nice so she will be getting as much as me, santa, and daddy can fit in our Christmas Sacks. The only three things she has requested are: guitar, scooter, and a bike. So yep she'll be getting those and lots of other goodies. Until that time comes...

Magazine Cuisine and Things

Anyone who knows me knows that I am crazy about magazines. Absolutely love them. However, in an effort to condense the "extra stuff" around the house I have vowed to downsize from nearly 100 old mags to maybe about 6 that I can't dream of parting with. Here is how the process goes:
1- sit down with stack of magazines in order from most exciting to less exciting
2- using one mag at a time go through and tear out pages that contain articles to use for later references, articles relating to current issues in my life, recipes I'm certain I will try, and any pictures or inspiring words I want to use for my collages
3- toss (rather recycle) what is left remaining of the magazine

I successfully went through 23 magazines yesterday (I think it was 23). Go me! I am super proud. Previously they cluttered up my laundry room.

Where do the articles go you might be wondering??? In sheet protectors within a three ring binder.

I vowed to put one page to use already this morning. You know those EGGGO waffle ads in parenting magazines? The ones with little EGGO recipes. Well I tried one this morning called "Ricky's Peel Out" made with homestyle waffles.

When I tell you this waffle is Yummmmmm-ie! you have got to believe me. Try it for yourself. These EGGO kids are on to something great. smile.

Next up on my "infamous to do list"... planning children's Easter celebration, creating a Welcome Spring package for myself. You can learn about this package by following my other blog: http://www.mailpackages.blogger.com

Leave a comment and let me know if you've ever tried one of those EGGO recipes and if you save magazine articles.

Starbucks Green level

Im stoked because I have made it to the Starbucks Green level after being robbed of the Gold level (long story). Anyhoo yaaaaay free refills for me. I heart strbx! Gnite readers.

Cooking up a storm

I've been trying to cook in an effort to pinch pennys to spend pennys.
Friday was "Fish Friday"...
I tried my hand at beer battered cod and onion rings. Adj loooooved the cod. Of course C stored hers in her lil chipmunk jaws and then later dispensed it in the car..."grossy Josey". It was okay to me. The onion rings how ever were to LIVE for!!!!

Today is what I am really proud of however. I love Italian food. I tried my take on Chicken Piccatta. OMG soooo delish. I added mushrooms and capers to my version. And C did not store it in her jaws. She chomped on this meal and wanted more and more. Here are some pics of my piccatta in all it's glory hehehe:

Goodbye One

This is the week C turns 2. I can hardly believe it. Time went by so fast. We finally thought of a most special thing to do with our darling little C. I can hardly wait for Friday to get here. It will be ultra special. Details later. I know she will love her new Sunday school class this upcoming Sunday, especially the singing.

SAHM again

I'm a SAHM again! yessss. My mind heart soul are at peace. I woke up happy. God has given us everything we need to live. Anticipating this next chapter of the journey.

I know one thing... we will be going going going on playdates and to programs. Cassie has always been my sidekick. How I love her so. I like when we're both all prettied up and bedazzled out on the town.

In breaking news I joined a momma's group called MOPs (mothers of preschoolers) @ my church (Northridge). I can hardly contain myself as I countdown till start day. I am in need of company-like minds-other caring and focused mommies. Also Cassie is moving up to a BIGGER kids Sunday school class that offers mini lessons and singing. I know she will love it. Im thrilled that she will continue to build her own lil relationship with God as we are Christian.

Today I offered her dried bananas and apples- 1st attempt failed. Will try again.
