Magazine Cuisine and Things

Anyone who knows me knows that I am crazy about magazines. Absolutely love them. However, in an effort to condense the "extra stuff" around the house I have vowed to downsize from nearly 100 old mags to maybe about 6 that I can't dream of parting with. Here is how the process goes:
1- sit down with stack of magazines in order from most exciting to less exciting
2- using one mag at a time go through and tear out pages that contain articles to use for later references, articles relating to current issues in my life, recipes I'm certain I will try, and any pictures or inspiring words I want to use for my collages
3- toss (rather recycle) what is left remaining of the magazine

I successfully went through 23 magazines yesterday (I think it was 23). Go me! I am super proud. Previously they cluttered up my laundry room.

Where do the articles go you might be wondering??? In sheet protectors within a three ring binder.

I vowed to put one page to use already this morning. You know those EGGGO waffle ads in parenting magazines? The ones with little EGGO recipes. Well I tried one this morning called "Ricky's Peel Out" made with homestyle waffles.

When I tell you this waffle is Yummmmmm-ie! you have got to believe me. Try it for yourself. These EGGO kids are on to something great. smile.

Next up on my "infamous to do list"... planning children's Easter celebration, creating a Welcome Spring package for myself. You can learn about this package by following my other blog: http://www.mailpackages.blogger.com

Leave a comment and let me know if you've ever tried one of those EGGO recipes and if you save magazine articles.

Cooking up a storm

I've been trying to cook in an effort to pinch pennys to spend pennys.
Friday was "Fish Friday"...
I tried my hand at beer battered cod and onion rings. Adj loooooved the cod. Of course C stored hers in her lil chipmunk jaws and then later dispensed it in the car..."grossy Josey". It was okay to me. The onion rings how ever were to LIVE for!!!!

Today is what I am really proud of however. I love Italian food. I tried my take on Chicken Piccatta. OMG soooo delish. I added mushrooms and capers to my version. And C did not store it in her jaws. She chomped on this meal and wanted more and more. Here are some pics of my piccatta in all it's glory hehehe:
