She turned the TV off...WAHM

"But I want to watch movies all dayyyyy" was her response to my "turn the tv off Cassie"

It wa a heartbreaking moment until I "got down in the trenches with her"... I had to join in the potential fun. So I said, "let there be paint"...and there was paint...and it was good!

Then I said, "let there be molding dough"...and there was dough with a work charger and embelishments...and it too was GOOD!

Very good indeed! She received pretend dough jewelry from me at the pretend party. After she blew out hard pasta "candles" on the cake she made!

I let go of my inhibitions and let the child mix colors...that God forsaken deed hahahaha.

And then there was batting with the dough ball...and IT TOO was good...for Cassie hath a strong arm and the dough ball hit me in the head numerous times when she was the pitcher! hahahah

See the little scout behind me?!!!! She's ready!

It took me not only physically turning off the television but atually getting involved in her play. She could not self direct for some reason and I'm okay with that. Part of the reason I decided to be a work at home mom was so that I could spend time with her!

I will admit it is hard to find the balance so far. It's only been a few weeks. It is much too easy to pop in videos. I'm not going to be THAT mom although she loves them.

Next time your lil couch potato declares he or she wants to watch tv all day I challenge you to get involved in the play!

Until next time...Do as Momma Says, Do as Momma Does

Hot dog rockets!

Our family would like to give a special shout out to Brittney Poe and 25.media.tumblr.com (who gets credit for this idea and the last photo as far as I know). We discovered the idea on Pinterest and tried it for Try It Out Tuesdays!

It was a hit with Cassie. She liked making it and she loved eating it even more.

It is advised to use thin spaghetti as pictured. We used fettucini and it took forever to cook and the parts inside of the hotdog remained crunchy. Other than that delicious.

Do you actually TRY what you pin on Pinterest??? You should...its fun.

Halves totally count

Happy 3.5 Birthday Cassie!

I remember from my childhood how significant the slightest change in age was. 7 and a half, double digits, 9 and 3 quarters. It garnered many bragging rights in arguments of what child was truley the "oldest."

At any rate Cassie discovered "halves" at her preschool and informed "I am a grown up, I 3 and a half!" Congratulations (insert giving in shrug). While this cake was for something else, C declared it her birthday cake. And so we put candles in it, sang the bday song, made wishes, blew out the candles, ate red velvet cake, and were quite merry.

Acknowledge half birthdays, a lot does change in 6 months. Just look at the photos you've taken in that span!

Do as momma says, Do as momma does.
